This is a concept piece of some characters I have developed for a storyline I am writing based on the Stargate Atlantis series. I find the alien characters interesting, but I think the stories could have been better. I'm currently writing the screenplay and treatment for a few episodes. I thought it would be good practice for developing my own storylines that I have created, but I still need to fix them up.

This began as a rough sketch in Sketchbook pro. I redrew the artwork in painter. Each character was drawn in a separate layer. Adobe Photoshop was used to colorize the whole image. The line artwork was used as a reference.
Each part of the character was painted on separate layers to provide me with better control of the colors.

I'm looking for critique on the coloring and style. I'm beginning to use fewer lines in my artwork. I believe its time for a change and I have found it makes the painting process quicker. I am trying to achieve a professional painted look.
